RECYCLING AND WHY WE SHOULD DO IT

The containers for change scheme benefit towards the environment, including less wastage and plastics in our oceans.  It is estimated that 33% of marine pollution is made up of beverage containers alone. The more containers that we recycle the less waste that is thrown into landfills and oceans.

Since the Recycling Scheme has started in Queensland 10 Million Containers  have been saved from landfill. Containers for Change reports.

It is also estimated that the cost of disposing wastage in rural areas range between $42 and $102 per ton, whereas urban areas are costing between $45 and $105 per ton. (The full cost of landfill disposal in Australia, Environment.gov.au 2018).
